Cupping Therapy

Controlled suction to support relaxation and relieve selected areas of muscular tightness and discomfort.

Professional service description

Cupping is a traditional therapy that uses therapeutic cups to create controlled suction on the skin. Depending on the treatment goal, cups may remain in place for a short period or be moved gently over a prepared area. The practitioner selects the location, suction level, and duration according to the patient’s presentation, comfort, skin condition, and overall health.

Cupping is commonly selected as an adjunct to acupuncture or TCM care when muscular tightness and localized discomfort are prominent. The evidence for cupping is still developing, so it should be described as a supportive option rather than a guaranteed treatment for disease.

Concerns commonly addressed with cupping

  • Tight or overworked muscles
  • Neck, shoulder, upper-back, and lower-back discomfort
  • Post-exercise soreness and recovery support
  • Restricted feeling or stiffness in selected areas
  • Relaxation and relief of stress-related muscular tension
InsuranceMaking supportive care more accessible: most extended healthcare plans provide coverage for eligible TCM and/or acupuncture services. Annual limits, referral requirements, practitioner eligibility, and covered services vary by policy. Please contact your insurer before booking and ask what documentation is required for reimbursement.
